Concept of Public Relation

Sea water turns sweet! Though irrational, this news about sweet water in the sea spread faster than forest fire and engulfed the entire city of Mumbai.

'Lord Ganesha is drinking milk!' went the frenzied rumour. In less than a couple of hours, long queues materialized at milk shops and temples across the country. It took a whole day of scientific explanation to convince spell-bound devotees that there was nothing even remotely 'divine' about this phenomenon. Yet, they stubbornly refused to see the truth.

A rumour suddenly erupts in a small town in Gujarat that ICICI Bank is in trouble. The rumour mill works overtime. And, the inevitable happens. Overnight, the country’s leading private bank has customers across the country thronging its ATMs to withdraw their money. It was only the next day that ICICI Bank’s strong denial of the rumour could be seen in print.

As can be seen from the above examples, word of mouth sometimes spreads faster than forest fire! Rumours tend to have disastrous effects. However, information that has been correctly positioned in the minds of people could have a positive impact. This is where a well thought out and sustained Public Relations exercise comes into play.

Public relations have expertise at relationship building and, therefore, it can influence good image building, for a company, individual or organization.

The emergence of PR as a branding tool is getting more respect and is a boon to the industry.

Brand is a perception; we take the challenge to motivate a significant majority of the audience being targeted to perceive a brand in a positive, desired manner. We play a major role in establishing and shaping those perceptions.

We take pride in our commitment to understanding your communication needs. For us your own image is a trust for which we will, often, go beyond your brief.

All our strategic inputs are preceded with, and accompanied by continuous research. From media relations and investor relations to content management and marketing communication, we offer a gamut of solutions to help you project your business better in the minds of your stakeholders.

HTC Legend hits India, Priced at Rs. 25,990

HTC India has finally introduced the much anticipated smartphone - Legend with Android Eclair 2.1 mobile operating system in the country. Legend is a worthy Android OS based successor of the ever appealing HTC Hero. Coming in a unibody aluminum enclosure, the new HTC Legend has HTC Sense user interface layered over the Android 2.1 Eclair update.

As a successor of HTC Hero, the Legend carries Android OS goodness with HTC Sense UI enjoyable on 3.2-inch capacitive AMOLED display supporting 320x480 pixel resolution. This stylish phone is machined from one aluminum block. However, we wonder how will the cellular network reception quality will be, considering the fact that aluminum isn't good receptor of radio waves.

Underneath the unibody enclosure, Legend has a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor which isn't going to be as fast as the 800MHz Qualcomm processor in Samsung Spica i5700. But Legend leads with 384MB RAM and 512MB ROM as compared to the128MB RAM in Spica. We fail to understand why HTC added a slower processor in this device considering Spica is available for half the price (Rs. 12,500 approx.).

Other than that, Legend has a 5 mega pixel camera (2592x1944) with LED Flash, accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and digital compass. This smartphone also has GPS with A-GPS support. Legend supports 3G networks with HSDPA 900/1200 and quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks. One can also make use of the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g support for wireless Internet and Bluetooth 2.1 for files transfer.

Music listeners should be at ease with 3.5mm audio jack that'll allow them to hook any pair of headphones to this phone. Avid radio listeners should rest assured as this smartphone has Stereo FM radio with RDS.

Packing 1300mAh Li-ion battery, HTC Legend gives talk time of up to 7 hours on 2G Networks and up to 6 hours 10 minutes on 3G networks.

The new Legend is now available for Rs. 25,990 in India.

ASCI bans a zoozoo ad

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) on Monday said it has banned two commercials, including one of Vodafone Essar's Zoozoos series, and has instructed modifications in another ad with immediate effect. The Consumer Complaints Councils (CCC) has banned a Vodafone Essar advertisement, which featured the Zoozoo character committing suicide, as it shows a dangerous action, which is likely to encourage minors to emulate such acts, ASCI said in a statement. The ad manifested a disregard for safety and encouraged negligence, it added. An advertisement, which was banned, was by the Erudite Educational Centre claiming "3 out of 4 IIM calls from Kolkata" have been a part of the Erudite training programme. However, the claim was unsupported and unsubstantiated by an independent source, ASCI said adding that the advertisement was considered misleading and hence, was asked to be taken off air. Yum! Restaurants (India) ad, showing a pizza for a particular amount when in reality the cost of the pizza was higher than communicated in the advertisement, was asked to be modified. "The number of complaints against misleading, dishonest and indecent ads has substantially increased in the last two months after ASCI launching its social awareness campaign. Consumers are getting more and more aware of their rights and duties," ASCI Secretary-General Alan Colaco said. He added that advertisers, however, were taking precautions so that creativity does not mar authenticity of their claims and there is almost 98 per cent compliance by advertisers on ASCI's decisions on complaints.

To my My Bestest Friend

The distance between you and I
Is only a heartbeat away,
For you and I dwell in each other's heart -
There forever we will stay.

You know all my emotions,
Many they may be.
You know when to be gentle,
And when to chastise me.

Two gentle souls deeply connected,
Thoughts not spoken,
There is no need -
For the other knows what one is thinking
Even before they speak.

So with all the love I have
In my heart today,
I want to express to you
These feelings I want to stay.

Beautiful Dreamer

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!

Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng.

Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea,
Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.

Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,

Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
